Intro to A2 Blog

Possibly learning about the music industry and how it has evolved in the last few decades and how easily music has become accessible to the public and that it is based in the mass market meaning everyone can contribute, by buying, distributing or producing. I've learnt that my previous blogs look better with images and video links attached to them then just write words. The essay writing question I think I did pretty well.

Analysis of Star Image 1 Childish Gambino

Analysing Childish Gambino who's real name is Donald Glover.  Donald was born in California, USA at Edwards Air Force Base on 25 September 1983, he is an American actor, comedian, director and rapper. The genre that Childish Gambino fits in is Hip Hop, R&B and Soul. His most recent video 'This is America' is a controversial video about his view on the American government and that they do not care about the public safety and just in general have no interest in what is happening with the gun violence and the government say that the only way to reduce gun violence is by giving more guns to different people for their safety which is utterly wrong also this video was debuted at number 1 on Hot 100 in America which gave him publicity. The character that Donald Glover is playing in his videos is the whatever reason the mood of the video for example in Childish Gambino - 3005 he plays a character who stays the same and everything around him gets old and broken, we...

Comparing 3 different music videos based on narrative

1st video: The Weeknd - False Alarm 2nd video: Bebe Rexha - F.F.F 3rd video: thelonelyisland - YOLO The Weeknd - False Alarm False Alarm was filmed in first person from the perspective of the bank robber. Illustration - is the easiest form to show the lyrics in visual form to the audience. The music ties in with what is happening on screen, the video is about a bank robbery going so well at the start and then goes down and people start to die because of loss of trust between each other. At the start of the video when the music starts we hear a low tone song playing in the background, and then when the bank robber steps on the cellphone the music begins and the artist start to sing. From the start of the video, we can hear the diegetic sounds happening during the robbery and the non-diegetic sounds of the music in the background. We hear the sounds like the officer being shot in the head and the glass behind him shattering into pieces, The sound of a smoke bomb being t...

Analysis of Star Image 1 Eminem

I'm analysing Eminem whose real name is  Marshall Bruce Mathers III. Born on 17 October 1972 in St. Joseph, Missouri, US. and is currently a rapper and record producer. The genre he works for is Hip Hop/Rap and currently is active at creating rap music since 1988 when he was 15 years old. In each video, he portrays 2 different people, Slim Shady and Eminem. Slim Shady being   aggressive and about a depressive life  and Eminem being  good , nice, comedian person.  - - - - -- His record company is Shady Records founded by Eminem and Paul Rosenberg in 1999, the record company is trying to sell his image of being this person having a bad lifestyle at the start of life and a lot of drugs used by his parents and him having an overdose, and the image is him getting out if this lifestyle and living a healthy life. Eminem's ideology   is not popular with the politically correct. His song lyrics, which include references to killing women and gay people, ha...

Textual Analysis of Music Video 2

Childish Gambino - This is America I’m analysing a music video ‘This is America’ by Childish Gambino and directed by Hiro Murai and produced by Jason Cole of Doomsday. The genre that this music video fits in is Urban, Rap. The pace of the lyrics is slow at the start of the music video and the body movement is also slow until the moment of the guy with a bag on his head gets shot the pace of video and music becomes faster and Childish Gambino says ‘This is America’ as soon as he kills a black man in white clothing who has a bag over his head, this could argue that black people get killed more often in America compared to white people and possibly it was an innocent death of their meaning they didn’t commit a crime before they die. At the choir part after he kills them, he puts the gun into a red cloth and it is taken away, this represents the people in America care more about their guns then the lives of other individuals.  As they dance through the music video the pace of ...

Different platforms such as a computer, tablet, TV. Artist's sites which might feature their music on their website, usually through a link with youtube but sometimes might feature their own streaming service. A2 Videos give the audience a visualized representation of the song being played so that the audience is able to have a deeper meaning towards the music they are listening to and music videos are more likely to be in the 'trend' on youtube which would possibly lead towards mouth-to-mouth discussion which would spread awareness and might lead to a successful music video made.
